What is the Difference Between CBD and THC?

As the market for CBD products continues to go from strength to strength, it’s important to know the difference between CBD and THC.

Knowing the difference is incredibly important given that one of the two can cause affects that can be incredibly bad for your health and is a controlled substance for a reason.

Although the two are both natural compounds found in the same plant, and have been used for centuries, we have reached a point where we can separate the two. Now, we can effectively make sure that people can have the good stuff without having the bad stuff.

The key difference between CBD and THC

The most important difference between CBD and THC is the affect that the compounds can have on the human body.

THC is known to produce the affect that makes people feel “high”. This can be hazardous in the same way that alcohol can be; i.e. driving a vehicle can be dangerous when under the influence of a substance like alcohol or THC. It is also understood to have negative affects on people’s health overall.

CBD on the other hand is something completely different. Although both are sourced from the same cannabis plan, CBD (short for cannabidiol) is a cannabinoid, or phytocannabinoid as they are sometimes called. These can have the same affect that naturally occurring compounds in the human body can have that are known as endocannabinoids.

You can read more about this in our recent article here.

How do we separate the two?

The cannabis plant has been used for centuries by all sorts of different cultures from around the world, and for a range of different purposes. We’re sure that they would not have had the first idea about the difference between CBD and THC, but in the 21st century, we do.

We are now at a point where we can extract the good stuff from the cannabis plan and leave out the bad stuff. That is, we can extract the CBD and leave out the THC. This means that the CBD products that we produce are all 0% THC, and we back this up with both our in-house analytical laboratory reports, as well as those sourced externally from trusted third parties.

So, CBD will not make you “high”?

We can’t speak for other sellers and manufacturers out there in this rapidly growing market. What we can do is offer our guarantees that our products contain 0% THC, so our CBD will not make you “high”, nor is it designed to induce any effect of that nature.

Some CBD that can be available online may not be free from some of the stuff that isn’t natural and organic. It is those products that people should be wary of as you can’t always know for sure exactly what you might be ingesting.

Knowing the source of your CBD and seeing the proof in laboratory reports is an absolute must in our opinion, and is an important difference between CBD and THC that could end up in some of the products available out there.
