As the market for CBD continues to grow at an exponential rate, the question on many people’s lips is this: what is CBD?
As specialist CBD manufacturer, let us give you a little insight into what it is, and specifically what it is that we do that sets us aside from the rest. We can also tell you a little about the science behind what CBD is intended to do as well.
A few things to note right away is that there is a huge difference between CBD and marijuana. The differences are relevant in terms of both of the effects that CBD has, and the legality of it as well. Our CBD products are legal for sale and use as food supplements, and they contain 0% THC (the part of the cannabis plan that can have the affect of making you “high”.)
What is CBD?
You may know what marijuana is, but what is CBD?
CBD is short for cannabidiol, which is just one of a wide range of substances that are known as cannabinoids, or phytocannabinoids. These are active compounds that are found in the cannabis plant.
Now, some CBD from other suppliers may get mixed in with other substances. We, however, are proud that our CBD is completely natural and organic. It’s free from heavy metals, pesticides and genetically modified organisms (GMO).
What affect can CBD have?
Cannabinoids like CBD that are found naturally in plants can have the same affect that other compounds can that are known as endocannabinoids.
Endocannabinoids are naturally occurring compounds that are found in the human body. They are neurotransmitters, which means that they can send chemical messages around the body to tell cells to behave in certain ways.
One of the easiest examples to use is pain. Pain can signal that the body is in danger of harm, so when we experience an injury, neurotransmitters like endocannabinoids can send chemical messages to the brain to alert us. The point of using CBD is that it may be able to have a positive affect on the body by sending messages that can positively alter the behaviour of cells around the body.
Safe, terpene-rich CBD
It’s not just about the question over what is CBD; it’s also about what exactly you are getting when you use certain CBD products.
You will have seen that the market has rapidly grown, and it can be confusing to know what to look for. Our advice is as simple as the advice itself: keep it simple and keep it natural, which is exactly what we do.
Our CBD products are full spectrum which means that we use whole plant extracts. Our CBD is also rich in another compound known as terpene oils, which are also naturally occurring compounds found in the cannabis plant. Terpene oils are essential oils that can work together with CBD oil to produce something called the entourage effect, which can increase the effect that CBD can have.
